A lot happened last year and we wanted to take a minute to let you all know what’s been going down at Bad Brownie HQ with founders Morag and Paz. Like so many other companies we’ve been through a massive rollercoaster in the last couple of years. Coming out of the pandemic, we were hugely optimistic about the future and really excited to be moving to a new, very large (and very expensive) production kitchen that we hoped would have transformed the business and allowed us to get our brownies in front of even more people, with new ways to get hold of them so we took a massive risk and invested in building our dream, gold standard production kitchen – a new home for Bad Brownie. However, the economic climate (Putin, Truss, Brexit and cost of living crisis) alongside the cost of literally EVERYTHING our business needed skyrocketed, and it’s still happening even now (chocolate has tripled in price in the last year).
At the same time, one of the founders was pregnant and maternity leave was on the cards. It was just too much all at the one time. We had to put a pause on things, step away and work some things out. After all we’d been running Bad Brownie for ten years, making hundreds of thousands of people deliriously happy with our decadent brownies and we were long overdue a mini-break.
And so, we’ve been resting, sleeping, dreaming, thinking and figuring things out for the business. And in that time also Morag’s been raising a tiny baby to an almost toddler – oh and Paz got two of the most adorable kittens and has also been renovating his new house almost entirely by himself. Not gonna lie, it’s been tough, like REALLY tough, the hardest year we’ve ever had and could ever have imagined for the business but it has only made us more determined to carry on making delicious brownies for chocoholics all over. We’re smaller, sleeker and, hopefully, now fit for the radically changed environment we’re all living in.
So we know we’ve been away for a while, a lot longer than we hoped, truth be told, and we’re sorry for that but we wanted to come back better than ever and give you the brownies you deserve.
